The IPIP-IPC organizes behavior around eight octants: Assured-Dominant, Arrogant-Calculating, Cold-Hearted, Aloof-Introverted, Unassured-Submissive, Unassuming-Ingenuous, Warm-Agreeable, and Gregarious-Extraverted. Adjacent scales represent neighboring combinations rather than eight separate personality species.
The result preserves official scale names while adding calmer plain-language summaries. It does not collapse them into “leader,” “empath,” “toxic,” or another invented archetype.
The response scale runs from 1, Very Inaccurate, through 5, Very Accurate. Every item is positive-keyed. Four published items contribute to each octant, producing a raw sum from 4–20 and raw mean from 1.00–5.00.
The original article reports three studies with samples of 501, 274, and 100 participants. Four-item octants are brief and have measurement limits. ViewsMeet does not apply the development sample as a global percentile table.
A self-report octant pattern cannot prove warmth, dominance, trustworthiness, relationship quality, leadership, conflict risk, or how another person experiences you. It is one structured perspective on these 32 statements.
